If you are using an USB-C to USB stubby adapter with your posted adapter then it not going work properly.

It's not a USB-C type (I see there's one available, but that's not the style I'm using).

I wasn't referencing the cable adapter that you posted but rather a possibility that you might be using another adapter with that cable adapter.

 

Still, the cable adapter that you referenced is not going to work with some HDs.  I know because I have the exact cable adapter.

I bought the external docking station and it worked like a champ for my backup drive 🙂 The only downside..I hadn't backed up since May 😞 

 

The hard drive that was bad is still a lost cause but I got back my older things!

Thank you for getting the external SATA dock that I mentioned. :manvery-happy:   It works for me quite nicely.  @Big_Dave also mentions the pitfall of various USB adapters. Some work, some do not. That why "we" have a drawer of adapters, trying to figure out what works with the drive's internal controller chip.
