Hi NonSequitur777, thank you for your reply. Your help is appreciated. So, my computer has only 4GB of RAM. I understand your recommendation of what I should buy. But, can you please explain " 2 x 8GB DDR3 PC3-12800, 1600 MHz RAM set via eBay" Is this 2, 8GB RAM  components? Or is this one component, NonSequitur777? Please understand I'm not the most computer savvy person, so this may be  a stupid question?

Do I remove the current 4GB RAM component from my computer and then install the 8GB RAM component? I read your recommendation of keeping components the same for best results.

Or, do I install the 8GB component along with what is already in my computer?

Can you please explain? Your help would be appreciated. Thank you, NonSequitur777

@sciencemagic,

Yes, replacing the single 4GB RAM stick with the two 8GB RAM sticks as referenced (only one pair left!).  Here is what your motherboard looks like inside your case with the one RAM stick:

Move the white locking arms/tabs outwards (see arrows) and remove the 4GB RAM stick by gently pulling it straight out.

[EDIT:] Take this opportunity to blow out the RAM slots and your motherboard with compressed ('canned') air.

Insert each 8GB in the RAM slots, minding the alignment notches (situated within the blue box) to line up your new RAM sticks correctly.  There is only one way the RAM sticks will fit in your RAM slots.  Once in place, gently push down to 'snap' them in place.  Here is a really good generic instructional video what you need to do:

Hope this was helpful.

Hi NonSequitur777, thank you for your reply. So, I remove the existing (original) RAM stick and insert the 2, 8 GB RAM sticks. Got it. Thank you for the video. I was going to ask for one if you could supply it, so thanks for the helpful video.

The "Kingston KVR16N11K2/16 2 x 8GB PC3-12800 DDR3-1600 240-Pin Desktop Memory" you suggested on EBay are listed as used. Is that a issue I should be concerned about? Just how much of an issue is a used RAM sticks? Would it be better to buy a new 8 GB RAM stick? Can you please explain, NonSequitur777? How much more money are 2 new 8GB RAM stick? The price for the used is $24.99. Can you please give your opinion?

Certainly do appreciate your help and understanding AND patience. Thank you, NonSequitur777.

@sciencemagic,

You definitely could choose to buy it new -and I'll be darned: as a matter of fact, I just found out that buying a new 2x8GB RAM kit is actually less expensive ($16.99) than the eBay link I provided: TEAMGROUP Elite DDR3 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz (PC3-12800) CL11 Unbuffered Non-ECC 1.5V UDIMM 240 Pin...:

HI NonSequitur777, thank you once again for your reply. Thank you for the price update. I've a question though regarding my HP Pavilion. And I suspect you could help. When I view the info on Windows Task Manager, as I've been told to do, I see the RAM usage % percentage and the CPU usage %. How just do I know what is the issue for my computers slowing down over time? Is it the RAM as I've been told could be the issue or is it the CPU? The CPU usage does show 100% at times when I open multiple tabs, and the RAM usage is usually around 50-60%. Those figures are always moving obviously, but the 100 % CPU has got me wondering? Is that a normal % to see.

Can you be of help, NonSequitur777 in explaining the 2 functions? Always appreciate your help. Thank you, NonSequitur777

@sciencemagic,

Look, the issue that you are pointing out is that your HP Desktop PC Pavilion p2-1113w (QW726AAR) is fitted with the "Bluewood E300" motherboard (HP p/n: 661109-001), which has a fixed (soldered) non-upgradeable processor, the AMD Fusion Dual Core E300 1.30 GHz, which is a legacy low-end dual-core processor.

The best you can do to get the most out of your PC is to upgrade your RAM as discussed and use a SATA SSD as your primary (boot) drive.

Hi NonSequitur777,

    Thank you for your reply. So, it seems adding RAM in your opinion is my best option. And, your recommendation of 2, 8GB Ram sticks is my best option for better HP computer performance. I guess the CPU performance I was inquiring about is not and issue. Good. I do appreciate your help and patience in trying to get better performance from my HP computer. Thank you very much, NonSequitur777
