I want to add an SATA hard drive to serve as backup to the SSD. The necessary cables do not seem to be present in the case. What do I need to accomplish this?

The power connector is there because it comes on the cables already connected to the power supply.
You have to get your own SATA data connector.
Good Luck

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
I read your post about wanting to add a SATA HDD to your PC and wanted to help.
I couldn't find anything on the HP siet for a 850-180ST, but I did find info for an 860-180ST.
If this is your PC, there are several SATA connectors on the motherboard, so you need a SATA data cable for your drive.
You also need a power cable and if the power supply does not have trhe cable needed, then you can buy a SATA power Y-adapter cable that splits a single SATA power lead into two -- and connect one end to your SDD and the other end to your HDD.
Good Luck

There is a power connector daisy chained from the SSD but not a data connector. I thought those were supplied with the case and all you had to do was plug one into the drive. The BIOS won't find the drive without a data connector cable.
