I finally found some time to follow your W11 installation guide and now have my sons old machine up and running on W11, thank you.
Interestingly I tried something similar using a more recent version of Rufus and experienced some problems, although that may have been me.
The system is in as from the factory spec, aside from pulling his old hard drive and using a spare one I had with W10 on which meant nothing that may be left on his old drive would be lost if things went wrong and I also swapped out the old PCIe WiFi half card from a slightly newer one with Bluetooth just to see if if it would work.
It looks like everything is fine and dandy at the moment, so I'll give it a few days and then source an A10-7800 CPU as you suggested along with some replacement memory and a bit better video card and see how the main system goes.
Now I have a USB with the installation on I can use that on the other machine.
Just as well it looks good as one of the two 24" montors I have on my machine has just failed so I'm needing a replacement.
Once again will update this thread as things progress.
