HP ENVY 700-060ea
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have a HP ENVY 700-600ea (full specifications here - this is EXACTLY my PC besides Windows 10 instead of Windows 8 https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03824427)

I took my PC to a computer shop recently and he stated I'd need basically a whole new system in order to upgrade. The PC itself is very good, good RAM, good processor (I presume) and the only thing lacking is the outdated graphics card.

All I want to know is, whats the best graphics card that will fit into my case + wouldn't require a new PSU. I was looking at the 1060 but wondered if I could go higher.

Also - the PC supports up to 32gb RAM. I currently have one stick of 16gb RAM DDR3 - PC3-12800 MB/sec. I was considering upgrading this as well to give me a total 32 GB RAM. I do a LOT OF gaming, such as GTA V, Rust, PUBG etc etc and so was looking at DDR4 etc, but wondered if it would be better to remove the current 16gb and replace with DDR4 32GB RAM?

tl;dr - whats the best graphics card that will fit in my PC (size wise) and one that would not require me to update my PSU - also - please recommend which RAM to get (if I am able to upgrade this)

Thanks!

@ConnorAdams,

You were doing an excellent summary of the issues, questions, and probable solution, BUT you made an error.

DDR4 and DDR3 are not the same KEYWAY to proclude (stop) you swapping the modules around.  DDR3 and DDR4 have different specifications.  THe modules just will not fit in the KEYWAY.  Prevents serious harm to the motherboard.:Crying:

The CorsairVS650 would be an excellent final PSU for that case. An exact fit.

What is questionable is the choice of graphic card based on my limited knowledge of higher end gaming.  Which/what is the game that causes the most system stress?

Staying with the mini-cards is correct.  You did your research, based on slot length in the chassis.  BRAVO !!!:Award_Gold:

You have the power for any card with the 650W.

GTX660 runs at 140W.

GTX1070 adds 10W

GTX 1080 adds 40W

RTX1070 adds 35W

RTX 2080 adds 75W

BTW<> I have a Zotac GTX1080 AMP Extreme, but it is a 13 inch card.  Too long for your case.

So I've narrowed it down slightly. Considering getting these two.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-NVIDIA-GeForce-1070-Graphics/dp/B01LLAJ8PU/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=GTX+10...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-VS650-Active-Certified-Supply/dp/B078Y32P1W/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=PSU... - This doesnt say ATX but I ASSUME it still fits.

Let me know your opinions with this + please let me know if it would work with my current system as specified in the specs above. Please let me know if they'll fit too!

Thanks!

@Wb2001

Hello,

So I play a lot of graphics taxing games like Grand Theft Auto, Playerunknowns Battlegrounds and Apex Legends and the graphics card in the PC doesn't support this games to the fullest potential. I've decided not to update my RAM as 16GB is plenty!

You have answered my question perfectly.

My last question and I'm just looking for a yes and no before I close this ticket.

Will the GPU I listed on the second reply fit and function in my PC along with my other specifications (Motherboard, CPU etc etc.)

@ConnorAdams,

Yes, the Zotac GTX1070 mini will fit. But you might want to consider the following.

I going to send you a link, posted here.

It will explain what graphic cards meet game play. Example of what you need to improve shown  in RED.

You have to meet the recommendation, or exceed it.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Recommended Requirements (most stress of the 3 you listed)

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-6600K / AMD Ryzen 5 1600
  • CPU SPEED: Info
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
  • VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1060 3GB / AMD Radeon RX 580 4GB
  • PIXEL SHADER: 5.1
  • VERTEX SHADER: 5.1
  • FREE DISK SPACE: 30 GB
  • DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 3 GB (4 GB AMD)

@Wb2001

I know the graphics card I selected will definitely play the games I wish to play.

However my question is, is the graphics card I chosen CAPATIBLE with my current PC - Will it fit in my case and connect to my motherboard etc.

Thanks again

@ConnorAdams,

TMeasure the length of the area.  Will an 8 1/4 inch card drop into the chassis. You could cut a piece of cardboard to test.

@Wb2001

So just checked, the current GPU in the PC (according to the specs) is:

Depth

9.5 in
Height
4.4 in

So a 8 1/4 inch GPU should easily fit!

@ConnorAdams,

Ok if I settled this issue, please render what that Solution and Kudo.  (Hint) :Wink:
