Bios Legacy is closed by Intel but customer who has already buy the PC but Intel should compensate.Every customer is not a millionaire they cant afford to purchase new PC and their work is going on nicely but due to stop of updates of Window 10 Pro-64bit along with Ubuntu. It is request to HP also upgrade the Mother Board of MSI MS7525 Ver 1.0 as from 2010 t0 2025 no update is showing on their sites.Bios is also not updated not even a single time.So kindly do the needful and provide Bios Legacy or UEIF..

Hi @kant2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns regarding the continued use of your Compaq Presario CQ3040IL Desktop PC.
We truly understand and appreciate your situation — maintaining a working system is important, and we recognize that not every customer can frequently invest in new hardware.
Please note: The Compaq Presario CQ3040IL is part of a legacy product line that was discontinued over a decade ago. As with all HP products, once a product reaches its end of support lifecycle, active development of BIOS updates, driver updates, and operating system compatibility also ends.
- The motherboard used (MSI MS-7525, “Boston” version 1.0) and associated BIOS are no longer maintained by either HP or the original chipset vendors.
- Intel has phased out support for older chipsets and BIOS architecture (Legacy BIOS), and HP is unable to provide UEFI or BIOS upgrades for this platform.
The lack of updates is not due to oversight, but rather industry-wide hardware and software evolution. Microsoft and Intel periodically end support for older technologies to focus resources on current platforms.
- Windows 10 support is ending for some legacy devices.
- Linux distributions like Ubuntu also drop legacy BIOS support over time for security and performance reasons
