Hello,
My 30L GT13-1380z loadout came with 8 GB of the stock HP HyperX DDR4-3000 RAM. I decided to upgrade by purchasing 32GB (2x16GB) of PNY XLR8 DDR4-3200 RAM. I replaced the HyperX RAM module with the new PNY modules in dual-channel mode (tried slots 1/3 and then 2/4). Upon booting the system up, the PC will turn on, but my monitor stays "asleep" and remains black. Putting the original HyperX RAM back allows the system to start normally. Any ideas?

I just checked over at crucial and they show your system and they offer the same type (1.2v to 1.35v, CL16 to CL 22) so it seem like you got the right memory.
By screen black do you mean the computer is working but the monitor not showing anything? You can check by "pinging" it from another system or smartphone.
You might try a bios upgrade.
Tried all 4 sticxks?
Use a single 8 and a single 16?

Computer turns on, but the monitor remains in sleep mode as if it is not connected to or not receiving any communication from the PC. When you say bios upgrade. do you mean entering the bios and upgrading from within? Are the default bios settings in need of an upgrade? I mean this is a brand new month-old PC...

One odd thing I noticed after doing some trial and error: once I boot up the system after putting in the new RAM (at any configuration), the CPU fan goes into ultra high speed mode. Not sure how this is related, maybe a voltage issue?

Have you tried a CMOS reset? Frequently that forces a system to fall back into the most stable boot mode. I would disconnect the disk drives to be safe as the bios might try to boot legacy with IDE and MBR instead of AHCI, UEFI and GPT.
Possibly the fast boot mechanism (I am guessing) is trying to use the speed settings for the older chips and is not reading or scanning the new memory. A reset should erase all previous setups.

How do you perform a CMOS rest on this model? If I remember correctly, you would be able to remove the battery on the mobo to do a reset? Is there a way to change the fast boost mechanism in BIOS without having to perform the reset? I do not really feel like removing the M.2 I have installed, but will if necessary.

I do not have your system and was going by what I know of similar ones.
Some BIOS, when powering up, test the ram to see what speed it runs at. Others simply read the SPD registers on the stick.
Usually this is done only once, when assembled, and the BIOS stores the information in its memory. The memory is preserved by use of the battery.
A reset of CMOS is usually done with jumper or, less likely, a small button on the motherboard. I would never suggest removing the battery. I have replaced sockets that were damaged as the user did not know how to remove the battery.
It is also possibly that HP, for reasons known only to themselves, have programmed memory speeds including latency into the bios and those items MUST match the ram that is included when the system is sold. In this event a reset of the CMOS will not help.
If you can find the jumper or switch on the motherboard then try the reset else return the ram.

Did the CMOS reset. The fan speed was now normal when slotting in the new RAM. However, I was still not getting the PC to initiate. As before, the PC starts, but the monitors stay off. Putting the old RAM back into place led to normal start up. I guess this particular RAM is not compatible?
