Hi! Hoping for some help
I have a Pavillion all in one 27 and the c drive (disc 1)of 120+gb is full. All system files and apps. D drive (disc 0) has 700gb+ open and I don't know how to free up space to get things running smoothly again. Thanks in advance for any guidance you can offer!

Hi @Knucklehead25, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your issue is common with setups where a smaller SSD (C: drive) holds the system and applications, while a larger HDD (D: drive) is meant for storage. Here’s how to free up space on your C: drive and optimize performance:
Run Disk Cleanup
- Open File Explorer, right-click C: Drive, and select Properties.
- Click Disk Cleanup and select Clean up system files.
- Check Temporary files, Recycle Bin, Windows Update Cleanup, and other unnecessary files.
- Click OK and Delete Files.
Move Personal Files to 😧 Drive
- Manually transfer Documents, Pictures, Videos, and Downloads to 😧
- Open File Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\YourUserName.
- Copy folders (Documents, Pictures, etc.) to D:.
- Right-click each folder, go to Properties → Location → Move, and select D:.
Uninstall Unnecessary Apps
- Go to Settings → Apps → Installed Apps.
- Sort by Size and uninstall unused or large programs.
Change Default Install Location for Apps
- Go to Settings → System → Storage → Advanced Storage Settings → Where new content is saved.
- Change New apps will save to → 😧 Drive.
Move Large Installed Apps to 😧 Drive
- Go to Settings → Apps → Installed Apps.
- Click on large apps and check for a Move option (only works for Microsoft Store apps).
Disable Hibernation (If Not Needed)
- Open Command Prompt (Admin) and type: powercfg -h off
Press Enter (this deletes the hibernation file, saving several GBs).
Clear Pagefile and System Restore
- Go to System Properties → Advanced → Performance → Advanced → Virtual Memory.
- Set 😧 Drive as the pagefile location instead of C:.
- Reduce System Restore space:
- Open System Protection, select C:, click Configure, and lower the allocated space.
*Enable Storage Sense
- Go to Settings → Storage and enable Storage Sense to auto-delete temporary files.
After following these steps, your C: drive should have more free space, and your system should run smoother!
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
