Hi @amuchina,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

To access and modify CPU-related settings on your OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop PC GT21-0000a through the BIOS, follow these steps:

1. Enter BIOS/UEFI Setup

  • Touch: Turn on or restart your PC.
  • As soon as the computer starts booting, repeatedly press the ESC key until the Startup Menu appears.
  • In the Startup Menu, press F10 to enter the BIOS/UEFI Setup.

2. Navigate to Advanced Settings

  • Sight: Once in the BIOS, use the arrow keys to navigate. Look for the Advanced or Performance tab, where CPU-related settings (like CPU overclocking, power management, and voltage settings) are typically located.
  • In this section, you may see options to adjust CPU settings like cores, clock speeds, and fan profiles.

3. CPU Features and Tweaks

  • Depending on the version of your BIOS, you may have different levels of control over the CPU settings. Common CPU-related settings include:
    • Turbo Boost: Enabling or disabling Intel/AMD Turbo Boost.
    • Hyper-Threading/Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT): Turning on/off additional logical cores.
    • Voltage/Clock Speed Adjustments (in some cases for enthusiasts).

Be cautious when making changes, as altering certain settings can affect system stability.

4. Overclocking (if applicable)

  • If your OMEN by HP 40L supports overclocking, you may have options like CPU Multiplier and CPU Voltage adjustments. However, some HP motherboards may restrict advanced overclocking features.

5. Save and Exit

  • After making your changes, navigate to the Exit tab and select Save Changes and Exit.
  • The system will reboot with the new settings.

Considerations:

  • BIOS Update: If you don't see the desired options, check HP’s support website for any BIOS updates that could unlock additional CPU settings.
  • Use OMEN Gaming Hub: HP’s OMEN Gaming Hub software can also offer some level of control over CPU and performance settings, particularly for overclocking or thermal management.
