CPU Cooler for Upgrade to i7-7700K in Envy 750

I'm considering upgrading the CPU in an Envy 750 from an i7-7700 to an i7-7700k. Would I need to upgrade the CPU cooler as well? The stock cooler is an HP 644724-001. I don't plan to overclock the i7-7700k, but I understand it still runs hotter than the i7-7700. Also, given the size of the Envy 750 chassis (16.51 cm), would a suitable cooler even fit? Thanks for any guidance.

I am wondering why you want to upgrade to a 7700K if you don't plan to overclock?  Basically, the only difference in the 7700 and the 7700K is the fact that the Multiplier in the 7700K in unlocked for OC'ing.  Here are the Specifications for both from Intel:

The difference in speed in not worth the extra price, IMHO.  That is, if you don't OC.

Perhaps then I would overclock the 7700k if that would ultimately provide more of a benefit. The motherboard does not permit any advancement beyond the 7700k, and since the computer otherwise suits my needs, I thought it suitable to replace the 7700 with the 7700k. However, overclocking would generate even more heat than not, which brings me back to my initial question: can the chassis fit a cooler that can accommodate the heat output of the 7700k?

A:  Your case is mid-size.  Therefore, the isn't a lot of space between the side panel and the processor.  I suggest that you contact one of the cooler manufacturer's Tech Support for help with choosing the best cooler for the i7-7700K.  They should know which of their coolers will work with your case.  They are the experts on their products.  I like MSI and Noctua.
