Quick Specs:

CPU - AMD Ryzen 7 5700G

GPU - RTX 3060TI

Bios Version - AMI F.20

Hey all,

looking to upgrade my processor on the Hanal MB and was curious what options would be available.

After researching and seeing a few people mention the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, I wanted to quickly verify as well the compatibility before ordering either product.

Looking upon the MB spec page neither was listed, but if these are compatible what processes would be needed to get them working? (Bios updates etc.)

Any info is appreciated,

Thanks!

@Karsonxx,

Yes, I can confirm based on the most recent GT15-0xxx User data available that the HanaL motherboard (SSID: 89EB) is compatible with these processors:

Ryzen 7 5800X (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 GHz up to 4.70 GHz, 105-watt TDP)
Ryzen 7 5800X3D (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.40 GHz up to 4.50 GHz, 105-watt TDP)
Ryzen 9 5900X (12-Cores, 24-Threads, 3.70 GHz up to 4.80 GHz, 105-watt TDP)

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Perfect, thank you on such a fast response.
My take now is that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D would be the better of the three to go for in terms of performance.

my main concern when swapping processors would be, would a psu upgrade be needed or would the stock 650W cool master be enough? Also my understanding these run rather hot so a CPU cooler upgrade would be needed as well, right?

@Karsonxx,

And you would be correct to state that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is indeed the best gaming processor of these three: https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-9-5900X-vs-AMD-Ryzen-7-5800X3D/4087vsm1817839.

Yes, a CPU heatsink upgrade would definitely be advisable, which should be relatively painless.  For example, in my HP Pavilion TP01-3003w upgrade project, I had to upgrade my heatsink when I swapped in a hot-running i7-12700KF (12-Cores, 20-Threads, 3.60 GHz up to 5.00 GHz, 125/190-watt TDP) with the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 90 SE White Dual-Towers CPU Cooler, which has been capable to cool this processor adequately.

Whether or not your 650-watt power supply is sufficient to power your rig, depends on such factors as what graphics card you got.  with your RTX 3060 Ti, which has a 200-watt TDP, I believe you should be fine, as the minimum power supply for this card is stated at 550-watt.  Meaning, adding 40-watt to your processor so to speak (from 65-watt to 105-watt) should be OK with your power supply.
