@shawnhut,

Make sure that your BIOS/drivers/software is/are up to date by going here: OMEN 30L Desktop PC GT13-1000i Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support.

Please follow these instructions: remove your PC from power.  Push the power button for 3 seconds to discharge any residual power. Other than your mouse/keyboard, disconnect any plugged-in USB devices. Reconnect power.  Push the start button but don't let go until after it beeps/turns off again.  Repeat.  Reconnect any unplugged USB devices if applicable. Then start up your PC.

Use compressed ("canned") air to clean out your cooling fans.  If you can switch the cooling fan that is causing the 90b error with a different cooling fan, please attempt to do so.

Kind Regards,

Do you recommend a cpu cooling fan that can handle a r9 5900x in an omen 30L?  Would a omen 40l fan work?

HP Recommended

@shawnhut,

Yes, I most certainly would: a Ryzen 9 5900X (105-watt TDP) requires a beefier air cooler, so an HP OMEN by HP 40L Gaming Desktop GT21-0xxx CPU cooler would work as this platform, fitted with the HanaAOC motherboard (SSID: 8949), is specced for processors up to a 105-watt TDP.

However, you can also pick something else, such as this Amazon purchase example which I am almost 100% certain would fit in your OMEN 30L case: https://www.amazon.com/ID-COOLING-SE-225-XT-Heatpipes-2x120mm-Push-Pull/dp/B08LPDDM4B/ref=sr_1_2?cri....

This air cooler is said to be able to cool up to 120-watt processors, such as the Ryzen 7 7800X3D.

Of course, space permitting, you can also consider air coolers on steroids, such as the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE CPU Air Cooler, which has a whopping 7 heat pipes. I installed this bad boy (plus an additional heatsink air fan) to cool my hot-running Intel i9-9900KS (127-watt TDP) -which is virtually identical in processing performance compared with a Ryzen 9 5900X:

Hope this was helpful.

Can I swap the 5600g for a ryzen 7 5700x with no issues?  Since both have a TDP of 65w.

HP Recommended

@shawnhut,

As a matter of fact: yes, you could!

The Ryzen 7 5700X is compatible with your PC as seen here: HP OMEN 30L Desktop GT13-1xxx Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

I can use the stock cpu fan since the tsp is 65w and it should not have a 90b fan error like the 5900x?

HP Recommended

@shawnhut,

I would think so, that would make absolutely sense. One thing, though: as far as I understand it, a 90b error is usually associated with a faulty cooling fan. Make sure you got the most recent BIOS version for your PC.
