Hi I was wanting to upgrade my CPU on my Omen 25L GT12-0240m CTO. I currently have a  Ryzen 5 3500 CPU, Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU, motherboard 87C3, 32GB of DDR4 ram and the bios is F.32. But I dont know how to check to see what is compatible.

even after all these years i'm still wondering why people refuse to look at previous posts using the forums SEARCH FEATURE before posting

you can look at the HP "quickspecs" for your model system to see what cpu's HP has certified the "CTO" in your model string indicates a system that was configured by the buyer at time of purchase and not a default pre configured HPsystem model,.... as such ram/cpu/storage/power supply are common items that can be diffrent

while not all cpu's for the cpu model line your system uses might be tested/listed in the HP quick specs there is a high probility that unlisted ones will also work

keep in mind that untested faster cpu's not on the quickspecs list will run hotter and draw more current and therefor might not be supported by your motherboard due to VRM/heatsink limitations

the following CPUs are HP approved/compatible with your model system

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3500 (3.4 GHz base clock, up to 4.1 GHz max boost clock, 16 MB L3 cache, 6 cores (Matisse) 65 W

  • AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.2 GHz maximum boost frequency, 32 MB L3 cache, 6 core (Matisse) 65 W

  • AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Base frequency, up to 4.4 GHz maximum boost frequency, 32 MB L3 cache, 8 core (Matisse) 65 W

  • AMD Ryzen 9 3900 3.1 GHz base clock, up to 4.3 GHz max boost clock, 64 MB L3 cache, 12 cores (Matisse) 65 W
