HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p009nl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

I know it's old, but I cannot afford a new PC, so the cheapest solution is a used GPU that is better than the one the PC came with. My HP Pavilion 570-p009nl has a 'Lubin' mobo, but only one PCI-E x16 socket, and the GPUs close enough to the age of the PC all seem to require a dual slot, I think. If not a dual slot, at least room for the second part of the card hanging over the mobo (I haven't built a PC in 20 years...). I'm looking at e.g. a Geforce 1060, or even just a 1050 (which mine is with only 2GB of VRAM) with 4GB of VRAM.

Does anyone know if it's possible, please?

Many thanks indeed.

@Frostyrei,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Looking here: https://support.hp.com/id-en/document/c05864272, your HP Pavilion 570-p009nl Desktop PC (2CX22EA) is fitted with a Lubin motherboard (SSID: 82F2) and an ATX 180-watt PSU with these dimensions (please verify): 5.9 x 5.5 x 3.4 inches (LxWxH).

Point is, you can't power any meaningful graphics card beyond a GT 1030 2GB with a 180-watt power supply.

Fortunately, your motherboard is 24-pin ATX-power enabled, meaning you can swap your existing power supply with a higher wattage power supply, such as a Corsair CX500 or 550, which would be an exact fit.

Please be advised that a Lubin motherboard makes for a somewhat challenging graphics card upgrade. Very tight fit with connectors and wiring and such.  You'll have to pick your graphics card wisely -make careful measurements what would actually fit AFTER you upgraded your power supply.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Sorry, unsure how a generic video on PC building would help! This is a specific issue on a specific mobo, not how to wiggle a card into a slot;)

I have a desktop. Thank you, but, it's OK.
