EliteDesk 800 G1 DM
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to upgrade the cpu in my EliteDesk 800 G1 DM (Mini) the i7 4790T  fits the socket in it but its 45w instead of 35w I've seen refurbished ProDesk 600 G1 DM but I'm still not sure the power brick is 65w.

You're right.

Here is the illustrated parts and service map for the 800 G1 DM.

The  Intel Core i7-4785T is indeed listed as a supported processor but the i7-4790T is not listed as supported.

There is no guarantee the i7-4790T will work because if the BIOS does not have the microcode for that specific processor, the PC will either not boot up, or you will get an 1801 Microcode error on boot.

Unfortunately, I would not be able to help you with your question, and I know of no one on this forum that installed an i7-4790T in a 400 G1, 600 G1 or 800 G1 DM.

I recommend you stick with what is known to work.

Hi:

Below is the link to the 800 G1 series quickspecs.

The best processor you can upgrade to would be the Intel® Core™ i7-4765T processor.

That is strange since this machine was officially sold with an i7-4785T which even CNN reviewed. Don't think that spec sheet is up to date.  The i7-4785t is the proper socket and same 35w usage and has been verified to work in the machine.   I'm sure that the i7-4790T  *will* work but my concern is power consumption because of the extra 10w of usage.  35w vs 45w.   The 4790T has been unofficially been verified to also work but I don't know if there will be any damage to the board or power supply in the long run due to the power draw.
