HP Pavilion 570-p054
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a HP Pavillion 570-p054 and I've been looking to upgrade its processor. On the computer's page it says the highest I can upgrade to is the i7 7700, because you can't overclock on the Lubin motherboard. I was wondering if I could use something using the same LGA 1151 socket to get a better processor, for example the i7-7700k, with similar or the same wattage usage, just without the overclock features. I wanted to get the 7700k because I might get a better motherboard in the future and I don't feel like buying a whole other processor.

Thanks,

@onementalboi, welcome to the forum.

HP has their motherboards made to their specifications.  They test all of the processors that are listed on the Product Specifications page for the computer to assure they will work without any problems.  Therefore, they are the only processors that you can be assured will work.  Since the i7-7700K is not listed, there is a possibility that it won't work.  If you decide to try one it will be at your own risk!

Thanks, but I already knew that it'd be a risk not knowing if it's compatiable.

@onementalboi, I have seen some instances where members used other than the tested processors with success.  I just wanted you to know there is a risk.
