OK, it won't be so bad with W10 Pro.

You know how to get into the BIOS.

This way might be easier, so watch both videos.

I have already upgraded my bios to  v1.35  and there are 3 options available  in the bios for storage configuration  (IDE,RAID,ACHI)

And my system currently running on IDE MODE

You won't be able to boot from it.

The BIOS will not support booting from a NVMe SSD.

You might be able to use the drive for storage, but I can't guarantee that.

Thank you for your reply please note i was not planning to use it as a system disk just for storage purpose

So will it work for storage purpose's ?? Or not

My system is dc7800p SFF

You're very welcome.

As I posted earlier, you should be able to, but I can't 100% guarantee it.

Folks don't normally install NVMe devices in PC's that old because you can't boot from them, and a NVMe SSD in a PCIe Gen 1.1 x 1 slot is not going to perform very fast (250 MB/S).

Oohky i understand i dont have the problem with the speed i just wanted to know will it be possible for it to work

The pcie x1 iam refering to also has a space for NGFF ssd can i boot from NGFF SSD?

HP Recommended

I'm not sure about that either.

You'll just have to install it and see what the results are and if the BIOS shows a M.2 SATA SSD as a bootable device.

Oohky thank you very much so for the pcie x1 nvme m2 adapter to work or appear in my bios what mode of storage controller must i choose is it IDE OR RAID OR ACHI?  Please help me here

HP Recommended

You're very welcome.

Definitely set your drive controller to AHCI if you are not going to set up two drives under RAID, and I can't help you with that.

I only use one drive for booting.

Any other drive I would just use as a secondary drive for storage, and not in a RAID array.

I have a dc7800 CMT.

It's a reliable workhorse.
