So I decided to "revive" an old hp computer I had laying around, it is an old Hp Pavilion a1524n which is running a Pentium D 805, I was wondering if I could buy a core 2 quad q6600 and just put it in, it uses the same socket but I am worried the motherboard will not support it. I haven't ever updated the bios on this machine and it is running windows 10 32-bit.

So I can upgrade to a Pentium D 900 series at best without a bios update? Would it be possible to reinstall windows xp media center edtion flash the new bios then go back to windows 10? Also what kind of memory would this computer take? im guessing ddr2 but id like to be sure.
