Will a Compaq KB from an older system (before merger with HP) work with no problems on my HP Compaq 6005 Pro SFF PC?

The system it came off of was around 2007 or 2008. It is a USB KB. Also, concerning this particular Desktop, I asked another question on this forum, but we never came up with a solution. When it goes to sleep, it will not wake up. It used to wake from sleep until a Windows 10 update that caused it to crash. I had to do a clean reinstall (with the same disk as originally after formatting the drive) and ever since then, it has had this "wake from sleep" problem.
