HP Desktop PC M01-F2000i (4LSF7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased a M01-F2000i for home office use.

When purchasing i saw that it had the PCIe slots availiable to add a GPU at a later date. I am trying to find information on compatible GPU's with this motherboard, also as it only has a 180W PSU I think this could also do with upgrading. however it seems there is very limited compatible PSU's. I've tried contacting HP via Whatsapp and have recieved no reply.

As far as I can tell the motherboard is the Akali 89B4

Thanks

@UnstableAssassi,

Any graphics card will do, as long as your power supply provides sufficient juice to power it.

For example, with a 500-watt power supply, you could install such quality gaming graphics cards such as: RTX 2060, RTX 2060 Super, RTX 2070, RTX 3060, GTX 1070, GTX 1070 Ti, GTX 1080, RTX 4060.  Please watch the GPUs dimensions (LxWxH) for fit inside your case.

With a 400-watt power supply, I would suggest a GTX 1660 SuperGTX 1660 Ti, RTX 3050, or a GTX 1650 Super, among others.

Kind Regards,

Hi. Thanks for your response.

The exact model according to the Hp Support Assistant progamme is HP Desktop PC M01-F2000i (4LSF7AV)

Ths shop where I bought it from has it listed as M01-F2003na/i3-12100/8GB/256GB which from what I can gather from looking online is the name of the bundle including the mouse and keyboard.

Thank you for the additional information, @UnstableAssassi!  This is exactly what I needed.

Here are the "Product" and "Motherboard" Specifications for the computer.  I am not familiar with this motherboard.  The first thing you should do is check to see if it has the standard 24-pin ATX power connector or the proprietary HP 4-pin power connector.  If it is the standard 24-pin ATX power connector you can use any PSU that will fit into the space provided.  If it is the proprietary HP 4-pin power connector you will have to buy any upgrade from HP.  The most powerful PSU they sell is 500W.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain what to consider when adding or upgrading a video card.  Once you have read the article you will have a better idea of which cards will work.

If you will let me know which connector is on the motherboard I will recommend a PSU and video card that should work.

I have checked the motherboard and it has the HP 4-pin connector for the power.

I have finally got in contact with HP however they are saying I cannot add a GPU as it has integrated graphics. I would have assumed I would be able to disable the integrated graphics after installing the new card.

@UnstableAssassi,

Your HP Desktop PC M01-F2000i (4LSF7AV) is either fitted with an Akali motherboard (SSID: 89B4) with p/n: N05248-601 "MOTHERBOARD AKALI INTEL ADL-S H670 WINDOWS". If you got this motherboard, it is fitted with a 12th gen Intel processor, such as an i5-12400, or is fitted with a Groot3 motherboard (SSID: 885F), in that case, then it is fitted with a 10th gen Intel processor, such as an i5-10505.

You can find out what you got by typing in System Information in your Windows search bar, clicking on the System Information App, and then looking to the right of "BaseBoard Product", which will show you its SSID.

Anyways, if your desktop is either powered by an anemic 180-watt PSU with p/n: L81008-800 "Power Supply - 180W ENT20 Gold", or a 310-watt PSU, with p/n: L10875-800 "Power Supply - GNRC PSU 310W SFF Entl18 FR Gold".

In either case, you can upgrade your power supply with either a 400-watt power supply with p/n: L04618-800 or a 500-watt power supply, with p/n: L05757-800.

You can purchase these power supplies online, such as via eBay.

Btw, the HP person you chatted with provided incorrect information: it is utterly irrelevant whether your processor has integrated graphics or not, once you install a discrete graphics card, your PC will automatically disable its integrated graphics (if it has) and switch the graphics function to the graphics card.

Thanks for your help.

Yes it has an Akali (89B4) motherboard with a 12th Gen I3 processor.

The power supply however is an 180w 80 Plus Gold. Part number L70042-002.

Does this change the supplies that you said were compatible? I'm based in the UK if that makes any difference.

I was kind of confused by the HP representatives comments so thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks again

@UnstableAssassi,

Your 180-watt L70042-002 has the same proprietary power connections as a 180-watt L81008-800, as you can see in this (Portuguese) link: https://hpecas.com/fontes-de-alimentacao/hp-power-supply-unit-psu-180w-80plus-gold-12v-l70042-001-l7...:

Meaning, the 400- and 500-watt power supply models I mentioned in my previous post are a go for your desktop.

After reading the ariticle Old_geekster linked about upgrading the video card I checked the BIOS mode of my motherboard and it is UEFI.

Am I correct in thinking that essentially any modern graphics card (Under 400/500W total consuption and with the correct power connections for the new PSU) will be suitable or is there some other check I need to do for compatibility. (Other than the size of the card)

Huge Thanks to both of you for all your help so far
