No experience with upgrading graphics cards here, looking to have a family member install it for me, but I still have to pick it out myself. Please go easy on me! 😅 I need a graphics card that can run The Sims 2 & The Sims 3 on preferably the highest settings. Right now I'm stuck with a Radeon RX 550/550 series. I purchased this current computer certified refurbished. Looking at my DxDiag file, here's some of my specs... I have no idea what would be compatible with my current build.
model - HP EliteDesk 800 G2 TWR
operating system - Windows 10 64-bit
current graphics card - AMD Radeon RX 550/550 series
processor - Intel Core i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz (4 CPUS)
ram - 16GB

@aldebear -- is this your computer: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04786146
Is this your motherboard: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-elitedesk-800-g2-tower-pc/7633297/manuals
Is this your Hardware Reference Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04844134.pdf
In that Guide, I see several PCI-e sockets:
That gives you choices for connecting different graphic adapter cards, depending on your budget, namely #5 and #8 sockets.
