I recently bought a hp omen 870-244 and have had it for about a month. It started though when I was playing helldivers when the screen froze. I then powered off the computer when something weird happened. My computer would power on then power off as if in a loop. I looked online and reset the cmos battery and tested the ram one at a time. The computer doesn’t loop when powered on anymore but now it will beep - - - . . and show no display. I’ve done research and even bought new ram and reseated them but it still won’t fix. What should I do?

We understand how concerning it is when your HP OMEN 870-244 Desktop PC fails to boot and emits a beep code. Based on your description, three long beeps followed by two short beeps (3-2...), we can confirm that this is a memory (RAM) failure code.

What the Beep Code Means

The 3 long, 2 short beep pattern is HP’s diagnostic indicator for a memory initialization failure. This means the system is unable to properly detect or initialize the installed RAM during POST (Power-On Self-Test).

1. Power Reset the System

  • Unplug the power cable.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power and try to boot.


2. Reseat the Memory Modules

  • Power off and unplug the PC.
  • Open the side panel.
  • Remove each RAM module and gently clean the gold contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Reinsert the modules firmly into their slots until they click into place.


3. Test One Module at a Time

  • If you have multiple RAM sticks: 
    • Insert one stick at a time into DIMM slot 1.
    • Try booting the system with each stick individually.
    • This helps identify if one module is faulty.


4. Try Known-Good RAM

  • If available, test with a compatible, known-working DDR4 RAM module.
  • Refer to your motherboard manual for supported specifications.


5. Clear CMOS Again

  • Disconnect power.
  • Remove the CMOS battery for 5 minutes.
  • Reinsert the battery and try booting again.
