I am trying to connect my Sony Digital 8 camcorder to my computer. I have installed Windows Movie maker & have used the usb cable that comes with the video camera. Unfortunately I can't get Move Maker to recognise my camera so I'm not able to import any video. Does anyone have any thoughts!
Thanks!

Check your manual. On my Panasonic the USB was used for setup and images and the Firewire was used for steaming video.
It should have been recognized by windows when USB plugged in.
If you bring up the device manager is there an unknown device show anywhere?
You may need a USB driver as Windows 7 may not have the correct drive and the Microsoft update servers for 7 are not around anymore.
If an unknown device is revealed then use this to find the driver

if the driver is not available then put the two codes in the below site and find the driver for windows 7
