Hi, I would like to upgrade the processor in my older HP Compaq Elite 8300 PC ([Personal Information Removed]- Product No. - QV993AV-) from an i5 2400 to an i7 2600. I would like to ask if I can do this upgrade on Windows 11 without updating the BIOS, as updating the BIOS is not possible with this newer version of Windows. thx

Hi:
The HP 8300 Elite CMT supports up to the i7-3770/3770K processor.
HP Compaq Elite 8300 Business PC (itema-pg.com)
I suppose you can upgrade to the i7-2600, but it is not listed as a supported processor, and neither is the i5-2400.
You can always update the BIOS regardless of what operating system you have installed.
You can update the BIOS without even having a hard drive installed.
See this discussion for how to do that...The CMT and SFF use the same BIOS files.
