The thing that holds the disk in place is stuck down so I can't put any disks in, it's a slot load drive so I can't just "open it"

Upgrading and Servicing Guide
It's an all in one, it can be difficult to take it apart, paying someone for such a replacement can be, a big expense..
I therefore indicate another option, if your drive is broken, and not repairable
Just buy an external usb cd/dvd drive, to help you out

@psncmc22 -- I see no way to remove the media without partially disassembling the computer, to physical remove the optical device, and further disassembling the device to get "inside" to remove the media.  This is not easy, if it will be the first time that you try it.  Either hire a computer technician to do the work, or simply responsibly recycle the optical device, because it may be damaged, and get the technician to replace it.

What do you mean "the media"? There's no disk in the drive, as stated in the issue description. The problem is something that is PART of the drive.

@psncmc22 -- the "media" is that circular piece of plastic that one inserts into the slot.

 

The rest of my reply -- open the computer, remove the optical drive, disassemble the optical device, still applies.

 

If there is something physically in the wrong position, then replacing the optical device is my recommendation, if you forecast a future need to read/write onto optical media.
