I just purchased a new Dell Monitor and it suggests connecting to my PC's DisplayPort (DP). My PC doesn't have a DP connection, and the adaptor I bought doesn't seem to be appropriate...one end is for the HDMI connection and the other end is for the DP cable. I think I need a DP on my PC, but it's not there. What should I get to make the DP cable compatible with my HP pc? Thank you.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
Unless your Dell monitor has only DP input (unusual), my best advice is:
🔌Use a direct HDMI-to-HDMI connection
It’s simpler, cheaper, and just works -especially since your HP ENVY TE01-4000i doesn’t have DisplayPort output.
If your Dell monitor truly only has DP-in (that would be rather rare), then:
You'll need an active HDMI to DP adapter (with USB power).
Or upgrade to a discrete GPU with DP output.
Speaking of an active HDMI to DP adapter, here is an affordable Amazon purchase option: https://www.amazon.com/Display-DisplayPort-Compatible-Additional-Required/dp/B0F3GQF5H1/ref=sr_1_2_s....
This adapter is exactly the right type for your situation if the monitor only has DisplayPort input.
Why it works:
HDMI (output) from the HP ENVY TE01-4000i.
DisplayPort (input) on the Dell monitor.
Active adapter with a USB power cable, which is required to convert HDMI to DP (since HDMI is not natively compatible with DisplayPort input -it needs active signal conversion).
Important Notes:
The adapter must be active (like this one) -passive cables don’t work in this direction.
Ensure the monitor input is set to DisplayPort.
This adapter supports up to 4K@60Hz, so it's suitable for most modern use cases.
