Product: Hp Envy 700-214
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Hi so I have an HP Envy 700-214 Desktop PC and I'm trying to use my wired Xbox One Controller on it, and its saying that Windows cannot find a driver for my device so I cant use it. How exactly do I get a driver because Im.pretty sure I should.be able to use something as simple as that. I'm new to PC so this is kinda hard and frustrating to me lol.

@Shayne217 , welcome to the forum.

 

The first thing you need to learn about computers is, they have a mind of their own! 😉  They never do what we want them to do.

 

The driver for a device is provided by the manufacturer.  In this instance it would be Microsoft.  Normally, when the Controller is connected to your computer, the driver should be installed automatically.  Here is a guide that may help you solve your problem:  https://www.drivereasy.com/knowledge/update-xbox-one-controller-drivers-on-windows-10/#:~:text=%20Fo...

 

Since you are using Win 8.1 a driver may not be available.
