Have had problems using USB hub. Now that used USB port tells me there is a peak load. Uninstalled USB drivers. Restarted desktop. But same message again. Also phone charger doesn't not work anymore. Seems hardware issue. Any idea's to repair.

Hi @Jozef38,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the USB port hardware may have been damaged due to overcurrent or a faulty USB hub. The “peak load” warning is a sign that the port is detecting unsafe power draw, and the fact that your phone charger no longer works confirms a likely hardware-level issue.
1. Inspect the USB Port Physically
- Look for burn marks, bent pins, or debris inside the port.
- If damaged, avoid using it to prevent further harm to connected devices.
2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Download and run:
👉 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support - Run the USB Port Test under Component Tests.
- If it fails, note the 24-digit failure ID, which is needed for service.
3. Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your PC and press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Go to Advanced > USB Configuration.
- Ensure USB ports are enabled and not set to low power or disabled.
4. Try a Powered USB Hub
- If other ports still work, use a powered USB hub (with its power supply) to avoid stressing the motherboard.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!

Thanks for quick reply. See below results in red.
1. Inspect the USB Port Physically
- Look for burn marks, bent pins, or debris inside the port.
- If damaged, avoid using it to prevent further harm to connected devices.
Don't see any damage etc.
2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Download and run:
- Run the USB Port Test under Component Tests.
- If it fails, note the 24-digit failure ID, which is needed for service.
Done,
I have left the USB parts test running for 10 hours. But it does not get further than 1%. Therefore, the HW test cannot be performed.
3. Check BIOS Settings
- Restart your PC and press F10 to enter BIOS.
- Go to Advanced > USB Configuration.
- Ensure USB ports are enabled and not set to low power or disabled.
Don't have that option in my BIOS.
4. Try a Powered USB Hub
- If other ports still work, use a powered USB hub (with its power supply) to avoid stressing the motherboard.
Tested but port is nor working.
Perhaps an idea which part must be replaced to get that port working? I guess the phone chargher option is connected to that USB circuit. Please note the extra HDD disk in the desktop itself en 3 usb sticks are damaged. Can't be used any more. Had to replace.
Perhaps this helps to identify the solution.
