I have multiple users who need their work laptop have 'Wake on WLAN' enabled. I was able to that on my computer by going into the Startup Menu > Advanced > Built in Device Options. I just had to it Enter in the checkbox next to 'Wake on WLAN' under HP LAN-Wireless Protection. Finally hit save changes. My BIOS version is Q72.
When setting up another PC, I noticed their 'Wake on WLAN' was still within the Built in Device Options, but it was under a different category. Still same checkbox option. Hit save changes. Their BIOS version is P96.
Lastly most pcs I'm working with I am unable to find the 'Wake on WLAN' option anywhere. Not in Built in Device Options or any other options I check. I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to configure to make it appear within the Built Devices. Two example versions I have are V96 and T72. Please let me know what I am doing wrong or if there any sort of BIOS version list that shows which BIOS includes Wake on WLAN or now. Thank you!

Hi @RealGH,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Configuring Wake on WLAN (WoWLAN) settings can vary between different HP laptop models and BIOS versions. The availability of specific options like "Wake on WLAN" might depend on the particular hardware and its capabilities.
Here are some general steps you can follow to troubleshoot and enable Wake on WLAN on HP laptops.
1. Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates:
Before proceeding, ensure that the laptop's BIOS/UEFI is up-to-date. Manufacturers often release updates that may include new features or options. You can find the latest BIOS/UEFI updates on the official HP support website for your specific laptop model.
2. Explore Different BIOS/UEFI Sections:
As you've observed, the location of Wake on WLAN settings can vary between different BIOS versions and laptop models. Explore different sections within the BIOS/UEFI to find the setting. Some possible sections to check include:
- Built-in Device Options
- Advanced
- Power Options
- Network
- Wireless
3. Consult the User Manual:
Refer to the laptop's user manual or documentation. It often provides information about BIOS settings and may guide you to the correct location for enabling Wake on WLAN.
4. Firmware Feature Differences:
It's possible that some laptop models do not support Wake on WLAN, or the feature might be labeled differently. In some cases, this functionality might be dependent on the wireless network adapter's capabilities.
5. Windows Power Management Settings:
In addition to BIOS/UEFI settings, check the power management settings in the operating system. For Windows, go to "Device Manager," find your wireless network adapter, and check its properties for any power management options related to waking the computer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your help Alden. Would this be true for the Wake on LAN option as well? I misunderstood my supervisor last week. When setting Wake On LAN on my device, I saw the option. When I tried another computer (different model) I only saw 'Wake on LAN during Battery Mode'. And on the 3rd unique model computer, I didn't see the option at all.
