Thank you for clarifying your suggestion. I completely understand your point—working or studying in dimly lit environments without a backlit keyboard can be inconvenient, and it’s a feature that adds real usability even on entry‑level devices.

Currently, backlit keyboards are more common on mid‑range and premium HP laptops, such as Pavilion, Envy, and Omen series, while some entry‑level models like HP 15 and HP 14 may not always include them by default.

Your feedback about making backlit keyboards a standard feature in entry‑level laptops is valuable, because it highlights how important this is for everyday users who rely on their devices in varied lighting conditions.

For now, if you’re considering an entry‑level HP laptop and want to ensure it has a backlit keyboard, I recommend:

  • Checking the product specifications on the HP product page before purchase.
  • Looking for models with “Keyboard: Full‑size, backlit” listed under specifications.
  • Exploring Pavilion x360 or select HP 15/14 configurations, as some variants do include backlit keyboards depending on region and retailer.

Your suggestion about making backlit keyboards compulsory in entry‑level laptops is exactly the kind of feedback that helps improve future designs. HP does take customer input seriously, and sharing this in the community is a great way to make sure it’s heard.

Would you like me to point you to specific HP 15 and HP 14 configurations currently available with backlit keyboards, so you can see which entry‑level options already meet your preference?

Hi @UserV27

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

Got it. Before I jump into specific models or recommendations, let me understand your expectations a bit better so I can narrow things down properly.

  • Are you mainly looking for HP entry-level laptops, or are you open to other brands as well?
  • When you say “entry-level,” do you mean budget-friendly everyday laptops (for browsing, office work, light entertainment), or entry-level gaming laptops?
  • Is the backlit keyboard a must-have for working in low light, or more of a comfort/convenience feature you’d like included?
  • Do you have a price range in mind, or are you simply looking for the most affordable laptops that still include backlit keyboards?
  • Finally, do you prefer Windows laptops only, or would you also consider Chromebooks?

Once I know these details, I can filter down to the right category and share models that fit your needs without overwhelming you with irrelevant options. Would you like to focus on HP laptops first, or keep the scope wider?

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!
