hp envy 795-0040qd
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have ordered  Envy 795-0040qd.  It comes with 1 stick 8gb  pc2666, otherwise unspecified ram.  Does anybody know what the actual stick is and its latency, etc.

envy 795-0040qd

windows 10 64bit

512 Samsung 960 EVO Plus primary

2T blue secondary

4 slots ddr4 pc266 udimm

         1 8gb stick vendor supplied

chipset is H370

mobo is Berks (HP proprietary)

Gonna update to minimum 4X8gb  memory

If  I bump the PC2666 to 3000 or better, will it

A.  Not work

B.  Overheat

C.  Run at PC2666 speed?

This is an economic question, and, yes I know all about, pairing and dual channels, and not mixing

All help GREATLY  APPRECIATED!

yes indeed your motherboard is HP propietary...so only 2666 MHz will be supported....no more or less...as the motherboard DOES NOT SUPPORT - Extreme Memory Profile...

  • 16 GB (2x8 GB) DDR4 PC4-21300
  • 32 GB (4x8 GB) DDR4 PC4-21300

So buying Ram at 3000 Mhz...is just a waste of money in this case!

After you get it...you can use an utility like AIDA64 to check on memory brand and/or timings...or just buy 4 new sticks...

good luck!

Thank you.  I was almost certain that was the case.   But, it's good to get confirmation.  Have upped your thumb
