@QueenB33251, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
I understand you're encountering error 0x800701AA on your HP 14 Laptop PC 14-dq0000 (9P5U1AV) when trying to drag and drop pictures from iCloud to your SD card. This error generally means:
“The cloud operation was not completed before the time-out period expired.” It typically occurs due to slow file system response or a temporary issue with the SD card or iCloud file availability.
Let’s try these steps to resolve the issue:
Check Internet & iCloud Sync Status
- Ensure your iCloud Photos are fully downloaded to your PC.
- If the iCloud photo has a cloud icon with a downward arrow, it’s not yet downloaded. Right-click the photo and select “Always keep on this device” to force download.
- Wait for the download to complete before dragging to SD.
Test File Copy Outside iCloud
Copy a normal local file (like a .txt or .jpg from your desktop) to the SD card.
If that works: iCloud may be delaying the file download.
If not: The issue may be with the SD card or its reader.
Reconnect and Check SD Card
- Safely remove and reinsert the SD card.
- Use a different SD card or try the same one in a different PC if available.
- Format the SD card (FAT32 or exFAT) after backing up its contents:
- Right-click the SD card in File Explorer > Format > Quick Format.
Use iCloud Web
Try downloading photos directly from iCloud.com and saving them to your SD card:
Log in → Select photos → Download to PC → Copy them to SD manually.
Disable Files On-Demand (Optional)
If you're using OneDrive or iCloud Files on Demand:
Disable the setting temporarily from iCloud Settings > Photos > Optimize Storage (uncheck).
This forces full photo download instead of placeholder syncing.
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
