@Sanjeev701, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.
The error code 0xc0000098 typically indicates that the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) on your system is either missing or corrupted. This prevents Windows from starting properly. Let's walk through a few steps to resolve this issue:
Option 1: Automatic Repair Using Windows Recovery Media
- Create a Windows 10/11 bootable USB using the Microsoft Media Creation Tool.
- Insert the USB into your HP desktop and boot from it:
- Turn off the PC.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F9 to select the boot device.
- Choose "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Startup Repair".
- Let Windows attempt to fix the issue automatically.
Option 2: Rebuild BCD Manually
If Startup Repair doesn’t work:
- Boot again from the USB and go to "Repair your computer" > "Troubleshoot" > "Command Prompt".
- In the Command Prompt, type the following commands one by one:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Restart your PC and check if the issue is resolved.
I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.
Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
