I haven't had the new system a month and at least 6 keys are fading bad. I've read that this seems to be a common complaint. Is there a way to fix this? I love the feel and style of the keyboard, but sending a new one that will do the same thing doesn't make sense. Since this is a new system manufactured at the end of January I can't imagine they've modified anything.

Sorry, but you basically answered your own question -- as keyboard replacement is the only working option.
And, since we are not allowed to deal with equipment replacement issues, if you want a replacement keyboard, you will have to contact HP Customer Support directly about this.
To contact HP Support see the following link to create yourself a case number, then call and it may help speed up the call process:
Step 1. Goto this page https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp
Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect
Step 3. Scroll down to "Still need help? Complete the form to select your contact options"
Step 4. Scroll down and click on: HP contact options - click on Get phone number
Case number and phone number appear.
