Hello, I would like to add a firewire card. I know I need a low profile one.  I am using it for an audio recording interface. Will this one work?

If not would you please advise?

Thank you very much,

Jason

@TNJason, welcome to the forum.

No, the card in your link is PCI.  You need a PCI Express x1 card.  Here is a Firewire card that is manufactured by StarTech that should work for you.  If you don't want to pay this much, it will be a good example of what you need.

Hi again. I purchased the suggested FireWire card. Received it today. It has a male 4 prong power supply connector on it. I have no free power leads on my power supply, computer is bone stock. Card fits perfectly, but I haven't been able to get the computer to boot up with the card in. I have not yet installed included software. Is the power supply to the card necessary? My guess is yes. How can I tap into needed power? Thanks for your patience, these are probably very elementary questions.

I am sorry that the specs didn't show a supplemental power connector.  Your best option would be to contact StarTech's Tech Support.  I prefer their Chat Live option.  They have always been very helpful and will definitely do everything they can to help you solve your problem.  I believe that you will have to buy a "Y" adapter and they can tell you which one will work.

Good luck!
