HP Slim Desktop - S01-pF1048xt
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently purchased a Slim Desktop  and when I tried to use it to work on spread sheets I quickly learned that I had to hold the fn key and then press the function key to get the function i wanted.  I spent quite a bit of time researching this and read that the BIOS could be changed or the keyboard had a lock somewhere on it.  After being unable to find any of these, I contacted HP service and after two hours learned that they cannot correct this issue as it was built into the computer with no option to change.  Guess I should have bought a computer higher up HP's food chain.  Be warned

hi
unfortunately the only possible solutions currently are software, or hardware replacement
There is a solution, but that is to block the key, and you may break the keyboard
Unfortunately either this is not suitable or user feedback

Unfortunately almost all models are like this

personally, I opted for the change of keyboard, +/ -  20 € and satisfied

I specifically asked if a change of keyboard would fix the problem and told no it wouldn't,  by the expert team.  I just tried it and this older keyboard is fine.  Function keys behave as they always have.  Color me not impressed with HP Expert support!

Interesting, what model is it?
the use of keyboard with FN key system, goes back a few years already, and the more we advance in time, the simpler they were
My best hp keyboard dates back a very long time, without this Fn function problem.
What I can't explain to myself is that despite all the bad comments from users, we still have this impractical function with many models.
