HP Pavilion 590-p0040
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, i have this HP Pavilion 590-p0040 and I want to upgrade the GPU on this computer. Based on the same questions for different models that I have already seen around here, I am aware that I might be restricted based on the power supply. I have someone that has a GTX 1650 MSI and its requirements are 300W PSU and they are selling it to me. I have doubts as to whether it will work on the board and if my current PSU will tolerate it.

Thanks,

Btw I recently upgraded to an SSD and I am not using the disc-drive either. Not sure if that could influence the power required to run this card. Thanks again

@Erulasto , welcome to the Community.

The motherboard in your computer is HP proprietary. It has a 4-pin power connector instead of a standard 24-pin ATX power connector. You will have to buy any PSU upgrade from HP.  HP has a 400W (L04618-800) and a 500W (L05757-800) PSU that should be compatible with your motherboard.  I suggest that you contact HP Customer Support to assure that they are compatible and that they have one to sell to you.

Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain what you have to consider when adding or upgrading a video card.
