GPU upgrade suggestion TE01-2287cbBundle PC

I have a Envy TE01-2287cb Bundle PC. It works great for my day to day tasks.

I have to run machine learning models which sometime require moderate GPU tasks.

So, I was wondering what options do I have for GPU upgrade?

I am aware that my PSU is only 310W. I can upgrade the PSU to 500W only if my options expands to good GPUs. 

About the, can I use aftermarket PSUs in this computer? 

Recommendations and suggestions appreciated.

If you want to run meaningful ML (training / moderate fine-tuning): replace the PSU with a 500-watt power supply as you already mentioned, paired with a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 3060 12GB (best VRAM balance) or RTX 4060 if you need power efficiency but accept 8 GB VRAM limits.

If you only need small model inference or CUDA acceleration: a GTX 1650 or similar ≤75-watt card (choose a card that doesn't need a PCIe power cable) that will run on your stock 310-watt, but only if you are on a severe budget and don't expect fast training.

Question: Can I replace my stock PSU with a non-HP PSU? I saw in some threads that I will have to replace my existing PSU with a same OEM HP branded PSU. That will narrow down my option and budget. 

Also, any insights on RTX 3050 (6 GB version, no external connector). I saw someone suggesting this for a 310PSU.

Yes, a low-profile RTX 3050 6GB would be a wonderful alternative for your stock 310-watt power supply!  -Make sure you get one with a regular sized PCIe bracket, such as this Amazon purchase example: Amazon.com: MSI Gaming RTX 3050 LP 6G OC Graphics Card (NVIDIA RTX 3050, 96-Bit, Boost Clock: 1492 M....

And yes, your HP Envy TE01-2287cb (34Z12AA) can only be fitted with HP proprietary power supplies:

400-watt PSU with p/n: L04618-800 / 942332-001

500-watt PSU with p/n: 901759-013 / L05757-800
