Who manufactures the rtx 5080 cards for hp desktop

@Daffy77,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

First of all, HP does not manufacture the physical graphics card hardware itself. Instead, HP contracts with PNY Technologies to manufacture the custom OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 desktop graphics cards for their pre-built systems.

Whilst the card features an HP-designed external shroud, custom cooling shroud, and a proprietary HP VBIOS to match the specific thermal and power limits of the desktop chassis, the actual circuit board assembly and physical manufacturing are handled by PNY.

A couple of quick things to keep in mind regarding this OEM card:

  • Subvendor ID: If you run hardware diagnostic software (like GPU-Z), the card's subvendor will likely display as "HP" because of the custom firmware injected onto the chip.
  • Warranty & Firmware: Because this is a custom board design for HP pre-builts, any warranty claims, hardware repairs, or specialized VBIOS updates must go directly through HP Support rather than PNY.
  • Drivers: For regular gaming and display drivers, you can download and update them normally through the Nvidia App or official Nvidia website.

In addition, PNY manufacturers non-HP OEM RTX 5080 cards, as do Asus, GigaByte, Zotac, MSI and other companies.

Hope this helps clear things up! Let me know if you need anything else.

Kind Regards,
