@1959me, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you add an HDMI card to your HP desktop running Windows 11:
Check Compatibility
- Open your desktop case and identify available expansion slots.
- Most HDMI cards use a PCI Express x16 slot. Ensure your desktop has one available.
- Also, check your power supply unit (PSU) wattage. Some graphics cards require more power than your PSU can provide. For example, a NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 is a good low-power option.
Choose the Right HDMI Card
- Look for a low-profile or full-height HDMI graphics card depending on your case size.
- Recommended entry-level cards:
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 / GT 730
- AMD Radeon HD 6450
- Make sure the card supports Windows 11 drivers.
Install the HDMI Card
- Power off your PC and unplug it.
- Open the case and locate the PCIe x16 slot.
- Remove the metal bracket corresponding to the slot.
- Insert the HDMI card firmly into the slot.
- Secure it with a screw and close the case.
Connect and Boot
- Plug your monitor into the new HDMI port.
- Power on the PC. Windows 11 should automatically detect the new card.
Install Drivers
- Visit the manufacturer’s website (e.g., NVIDIA or AMD) to download the latest drivers.
- Alternatively, use Windows Update to install compatible drivers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
