I bought a HP ProDesk 405 G4 with a Ryzen Pro 5 2400GE CPU.
The computer has an AMD B350 chipset.
It looks like that officially there is only support for Ryzen 2000 CPUs (and some slower Athlons).
I know that PC mainboards with the same B350 chipset support Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 CPUs as well as Ryzen 4000 APUs. So it is probably just a matter of a BIOS update that adds support for these CPUs.
I have installed the latest BIOS that was release this fall.
Has anyone tried a more recent CPU with the HP 405 G4? Which CPUs can work? In particular the Ryzen 5 5600GE would be an interesting upgrade.

Hey there,
I updated my machine to the latest BIOS version too - 02.20.00 Rev.A 24.8 MB (Nov 8, 2022).
I had a Ryzen 2200G and wanted to install a 3400G - tried earlier today and unfortunately did not work! 😞 There were no beeps or error sounds - the white power light came on and CPU fan was spinning - just no display output.
Tried taking both the CMOS battery out and pressing the 'Clear CMOS' button but didn't help. Just caused the fan to stop and spin faster for a few seconds before settling down again.
I also tried the VGA output in case the problem was related to DP out on first boot / settings getting reset but same result.
Even though the motherboard is a B350 - I think the BIOS has been locked down by HP and the highest you can upgrade to is a 2400G. There is a 405 G6 model that works with 3200 and 3400G.
Let me know if anyone else has got their machine working with anything else other than the 2200 and 2400G!
