the dlink 2800 router is a "AC" class router which is a faster spec than a "N" class router,

both classes support dual bands 2.5./5ghz

to get the fastest speed you want to see if a "AC" class wireless module is available as a option for your system

here's your system specs

your Ralink  RT3290 Half Mini PCIe  card is a Wireless + Bluetooth combo card, so any upgrade must also be a dual card

the intel AC7260 card is a dropin replacement, but you will have to install drivers for it

do you mean that you upgraded the wireless router to one that supports 2.5/5ghz bands

and now want to upgrade the computer wireles to also support both wireless bands?

what model router did you buy if it's a AC compatable router or just a "N" series  it does make a diffrence

and last, what is the full model number of your 500 series system ? 500-xxxx

here's a example

yes thats correct I wish to upgrade to a dual band card.

Desktop Model is HP 500-120a.    It has a Ralink RT3290 802.11bgn currently installed and wont allow the 5ghz speed.

i have a Dlink 2800 router which definately supports both band widths.
