HP 580-023w Recovery Manager Issue

I bought a Samsung 860 Evo 1TB to install as my boot drive for my computer. I plan to use the stock 1TB HDD for storage. I created an image of my HDD to a 32GB flash drive. I used the SATA cable that the HDD uses and plugged it into my SSD. I also attached the extra power cable into my SSD. I then turned the computer on, and I pressed ESC to go into BIOS. Then I press F11 to open up System Recovery. When I tried to use the clone from HP Recovery Manager, it seemed to work until about 25%, which then it read Registration Incomplete.  In Details it said that it "Failed to assign drive letter to ESP."

What I recommend you do is this...

Make sure your new SSD is connected to the original SATA port your mechanical hard drive was plugged into, which it appears you have done.

The PC will always want to boot from that port (usually labeled on the motherboard as SATA 0 or 1.

Leave your mechanical hard drive disconnected for now.

With another PC, or leave your PC's hard drive connected to the original port for now, use the cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your PC onto the SSD.

Boot from the media created by the cloud recovery tool.

No need to use F11 this way.

Thanks for the help Paul! I ended up using Acronis True Image 2021 to make a clone of my mechanical drive which ended up being easier since I did not lose any data and is an exact replica of what was on my mechanical drive. Thank you for your response, I'm glad there are multiple bettet ways to do this now!
