Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

my HP Compaq 8100 Elite SFF RAM
- Motherboard Model: Hewlett-Packard 304Ah
- Motherboard Chipset: Intel Q57
- CPU: Intel (R) Core (TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz
- Socket: H1 (LGA1156)
- BIOS Version: 786H1 v01.13

has 2 banks of 2GB ram (PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM Transcend JM1333KLU-2G) for a total of 4GB.

I have read that the pc supports max 16GB (4x4GB) and I would like to increase the RAM from 4GB to 8GB.

What solution do you suggest me?

Is this 2x4GB Crucial kit compatible?

Thanks for your suggestions

Frank

You're very welcome, Frank.

If you can't get the Patriot memory, then I suggest you go with the 4 GB Crucial DDR3L-1600 memory.

In order for 1.35V memory to meet the DDR3 standard, it also has to run at 1.5V.

1.5V memory does not have to run at 1.35V, so installing 1.5V memory in a PC that specifically calls for 1.35V memory will most likely not work.

You can see from the screenshot of the HWINFO report ran on my Dell Optiplex 7020 desktop PC, which is running the 8 GB memory Crucial recommends for my PC...two voltage specs.  1.5V & 1.35V.

@FranKKram,

Crucial RAM is one of many options. Your max RAM is 4 x 4GB of DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 RAM 240-pin

Its specs

          https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c02030592

which supports

  • 1 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 1 GB)
  • 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 2 GB)
  • 2 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 2 GB)
  • 3 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 GB + 2 GB)
  • 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (1 x 4 GB)
  • 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 2 GB)
  • 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (2 x 4 GB)
  • 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (4 x 2 GB)
  • 16 GB DDR3 SDRAM PC3-10600 (1333MHz) non ECC (4 x 4 GB

You can use DDR3L RAM from Crucial but you won't get benefit of DDR3L RAM (lower voltage). Why not Transcend JM1333KLU-2G RAM ?

Regards.

@banhien,

[EDIT:] With all due respect, but if you're talking about the benefits of lower voltage -I wholeheartedly agree: the Crucial RAM I suggested runs at 1.35 V, whereas the Transcend JM1333KLU-2G RAM runs at 1.50 V...

My bad: I realized that I misunderstood your previous post.  You may indeed not benefit from 1.35V RAM, but like I said earlier, Crucial RAM is but one of many options.

Hi, @FranKKram

Normally, I would agree that installing compatible Crucial memory is the way to go.

But...the HP 8000 Elite and HP 8100 Elite PC's are very difficult to find the right memory for.

You must use low density memory and very rarely are those specifications indicated.

However, I know that this memory will work in your PC.  So, there is no guesswork involved.

You can add these memory chips in addition to the currently installed memory and have 12 GB in total.

I also did a search for Kingston, but they are out of production

Could the fact that Crucial RAM are low voltage create compatibility issues?

Are Crucial RAM low density?

On the Crucial website it says: "This component is 100% compatible with the HP Compaq 8100 Elite Small Form Factor"

The Patriot RAM is currently unavailable on Amazon.

If you have any other suggestions.
