Hi all,
I have just recently acquired a second hand HP Compaq DC5700 Microtower Desktop PC.
In terms of upgrading the PC, I would like to know what type of Motherboard the PC uses? Is it an ATX board or is it an HP specific board?
I know from past experience (back when I owned a Dell PC) that some motherboards can't be upgraded due to the PC case being made specifically for that type of Motherboard.
I was wondering of changing the Motherboard so that I could have a bit of a project to do and have a more powerful and up to date machine.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

As your aware, that machine is very limited. It's origin dates back to XP. Functionality of the motherboard has some problems with Vista. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00809043#AbT2
HP driver support does not exist past the Vista OS.

Playing around? Get a standard ATX case, that way you have a standard backplate cutout. Any new motherboard would have a backplate that matches. Trying to dremel out that old case to fit a new motherboard is called "Frankenboard".
