Hi, does anybody have any idea what is the revision of MXM slot inside this beast :LaughingTears:

Or it could be upgraded with 1st or 2nd generation module only?

Couldn't find any info on slot/module compatibility.

Thanks!

HP only supports the listed HP approved mxm cards,

as a general rule, you might be able to install most 7xxx series cards (or might not) depending on how HP setup the bios, some makers use a whitelist and only approved cards will work others don't check and allow any card that matches the same series as what the vender offered

but almost allways you will not be able to install a compleatly diffrent generation video card

(like the 1050/1060 you mentioned)

I looked at: HP Compaq Elite 8300 PC Product Specifications

but it only listed:

Expansion slots: (1) Mini PCI Express, (1) MXM, (1) mSATA

Also, see the listing of manuals: HP Compaq Elite 8300 Ultra-slim PC  for:

HP Compaq Business PC Maintenance and Service Guide Elite 8300 Series Convertible Minitower Elite 8300 Series Microtower Elite 8300 Series Small Form Factor Elite 8300 Series Ultra-Slim Desktop

I don’t understand the answer )))

I, myself also found a bunch of manuals, but none was mentioning the revison of a  MXM slot. I know for sure that only 1 graphics card would fit - Radeon 7xxx mxm.

But I want to know if it could be fitted with gtx 1050 or 1060 for example.

At this point, I would take your computer to a computer store, and have them select & install the device, and PROVE to you that it works.  If it works, buy it from them.  If it does not work, thank them for their time & effort, and try a different computer store.
