On Feb 6 there was a string of emails regarding a pop-up "HP Display Control Critical Update Needed."  Was it a scam or legit?  I didn't see a final concensus.  Thanks for you input. Bernie

The "HP Display Control Critical Update Needed" pop-up is a legitimate notification from HP software, not a scam. Many users got it and update failed in last due to some bug. Just ignore it. To stop this pop up, Right-click taskbar > Task Manager > Startup tab > Find "HP Display Control" > Disable > Restart. This stops the pop-up without uninstalling.

I have a pop up: "Critical Update Needed to use HP Display Control"

Is this legitimate or a scam?  Should I be pressing the Download Update, and do I need to do this?  What are the benefits?

It's a legitimate update that does not apply correctly, resulting in the repeated prompting to install even after the update has been installed.

I have had trouble with the HP computer I bought since day one, service and support are worthless for help, from overseas, and told me I would have to "Uninstall and reinstall windows OS in order to correct the problem" (this was from a previous support request regarding another issue). Anyone who has ever worked Windows knows this is a last resort kind of fix that usually ends in disaster but literally the first thing they suggested.

This will be the last HP product I ever buy. Complete garbage.
