When I press on the power button absolutely nothing happens. No power at all. I've done all the troubleshooting with the power adapter, I've drained the power from the unit and nothing. It's 2:30am, I've been messing with this PITA all night!! Anybody have any ideas! I ordered a new on/off circuit card and a new cable hoping this is the problem. But being that this is the second time it's happened then someone else out there must have had the same problem?? Help please!!! There is so much on this hard drive that I can't access now. Please help.

Hey there! @jkharrell1957, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand you have issues powering on your PC.

Don't worry I'd like to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

Do you see any lights on your PC?

Have you tried checking with a different adapter?

Are you able to boot into BIOS?

Splendid analysis and remarkable patience shown. It is immensely appreciated.

Try plugging the adapter into a different wall outlet and check if it helps.

Try the steps recommended below.

If you still have no power, perform the following steps until power is restored or it is determined that there is a hardware failure:

   note:

If the power supply fan spins when the computer is turned on but the light does not turn on, see Power supply light comes on or flashes.

1. Disconnect everything from the computer, including the power cord.

2. With the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the front of the computer.

3. Plug in the power cord to see if the computer automatically turns on. If the computer does not turn on, continue using these steps.

4. Swap the computer's power cord with the monitor's power cord, and then test to see if the computer can turn on.

5.Plug in the power cord and test to see if the computer can turn on. If not, continue using these steps.

6. Plug a working electronic device into the same outlet to see if the wall outlet has power. Try the computer in a different outlet in order to eliminate the outlet as a possible source of the issue. Test both to see if the wall outlets have power.

7. Remove all extension cords, power strips, surge protectors and any converters that remove ground. Plug the power cable directly to the wall outlet. Test for power. If this fixes the issue, find the device that is causing the issue and do not use it.

8. If all of the above steps have been tried and the power supply light remains off, use the steps in the next section.

If you are able to boot into BIOS try to restore the BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps. It is a hardware issue with your laptop.

Try taking your PC to HP authorized service centre to get the data backup from your PC.

Or I will send you few details in a priviate message. Please watch your inbox for more information.

This is an All-In-One machine...there is not monitor power cord.  I did all the steps prior to ever posting my problem.  Nothing worked.  So I bought a Dell.  Which I should have done in the first place.  This HP is and has been a piece of crap.
