Details:
HP EliteDesk 800 G1 Tower (Intel 8 series - Q87 Chipset)
Windows 10 1709 x64
Problem:
When I installed my OS from scratch, Windows 10 installed all of my drivers, except the USB 3.0 controller.
It has recognised my Intel 8 series/C220 chipset and installed the two USB 2 controllers, but hasn;t found the USB 3.
I have tried downloading drivers from HP and Intel, but I can only find Win7 drivers for this and I get a message saying that my PC does not meat the minimum requirement to install the driver.
I cannot locate a driver anywhere for the Intel 8 Series/C220 (Q87) Chipset / USB 3.0 host controller for Windows 10.
I have checked all my BIOS settings and everything is set correctly.
Any assistance/advice you can offer would be most welcomed.
Thanks.

our motherboard has the Lynxpoint chipset.
According to Intel, the Intel 8 chipset drivers are natively a part of the Windows 10 drivers set.
Try searching for the driver via the Device Manager.

Erico,
I agree with you that Windows 10 should support the chipset nativly, but Windows doesn't seem to recognise the USB 3.0 host, only two USB 2 hosts.
Example: Intel(R) 8 Series/C220 Series USB EHCI #2 - 8C2D
However, if I connect a device to my USB 3 port, it appears in device manager, so the ports are working, just not as USB 3!!
In answer to your pre-edited question, I have an Intel® Core™ i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz, in this machine.
Cheers.

Others here in the forum have made the same request as yours.
AFAIK, no one has successfully managed to get the USB 3.0 port to operate at USB bandwidth in Windows 10.
This is a downside to having an older generation chipset feature that the original manufacturer (Intel) has decided to no longer support past Windows 7.
Perhaps someone else can help you further.
