Same problem, same machine as in https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/loud-processor-fan/td-p/9185227

Fan is at 50% (ca. 1600ppm) all the time and makes a very uncomfortable noise.

Currently updating the BIOS.

Really hope for a solution. It's a nice machine but with this noise for an idle PC... Will not be able to work all day.

Lets hope for a solution otherwise I might need to return.

Hi @Jokel77

I recommend you to open the task manager and check the application that is consuming a lot of CPU, disable it momentarily and see if the fans are running normally.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm aware of the basic stuff. Also booted a Linux from USB. Nearly 0% CPU-load. Still the fan is running. I can confirm, that changing the preset in the HP Command Center is lowering the fan speed but only insignificantly.

Currently, CPU is bellow 40 °C. Still the fan is spinning very annoying.

Fan is speeding up with cinebench at approx. 65-70°. So I have to assume, at 40° the fan could run slower.

I'll also try to contact HP support tomorrow via phone. Two complaints (from Germany) for such an expensive machine  in the forum in the last months. Really hope HP is planning on providing an updated BIOS. Otherwise, I'll have to return. unfortunately.

Best Regards

Quick update after telephoning with the german support again.

They can't help me at the moment. The only thing would be a replacement or a repair but htis won't fix it because its a Software thing.

HP have to integrate an option in Bios to disable "Fans always on" as they did in several other devices. This option is just missing.

A little update following another phone conversation with German assistance.

Right now, they are unable to assist me. The only solution would be to replace or repair it, however since it's a software issue, this won't resolve the issue. Download Snaptube Premium APK

HP must include a bios option to turn off "Fans always on," just like they did with a number of other devices. This option is simply absent.

Yes, I agree. Support isn't helping. Also, as expected, a replacement did not solve the problem. Maybe HP will respond if more buyers request replacements?
